How does the Discovery Week work? +

The Discovery Week is 5 days of intensive onboarding where we get to know your systems, architecture, working practices, and team.

We don’t touch any code. We learn how your business functions and what access we’ll need when you schedule capacity.

The resulting document is versioned and signed by both parties. It captures everything we need to hit the ground running. This can be incrementally updated and re-signed if there are material changes during delivery.

We complete this before you schedule any capacity, so when you do need us, there’s no ramp up. You flip the switch to grant the agreed access, we start work.

For returning clients after 6 months, we do a shorter refresh of 3 days.

Do the Discovery Week days get deducted from the Flex or subscription days I buy? +

No, the Discovery Week days are a one time purchase and separate to either means of scheduling.

If you purchase a subscription, the initial month is the only time it will be billed, subsequent months will only show the subscription related line items.

What's the minimum commitment? +

For prepaid blocks, the minimum is a Flex 10 (10 days, valid for 90 days).

For subscriptions, there’s a 3 month minimum commitment with 30 days notice to cancel.

For new clients a Discovery Week is required before any days from prepaid blocks or a subscription can be redeemed.

Can unused days roll over? +
For subscriptions, unused included days roll over for up to 2 months. Subscription top up days are valid for one month from date of purchase.
What happens if I need more days than my subscription includes? +
Additional days beyond your subscription’s included allowance are available at a discounted rate. The exact rate depends on your subscription tier.
How do I schedule capacity? +

Once you have an active subscription or Flex block, you can schedule days as needed by contacting us. We’re developing an online booking portal for added convenience.

Scheduling requires at least 14 calendar days’ advance notice. The minimum booking is a half-day (4 hours).

Shorter notice may be accommodated at our discretion, subject to availability. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for the full scheduling and cancellation policy.

What kind of work is this suited for? +

On demand capacity works well for: covering team gaps, tackling technical debt, unblocking releases, architecture reviews, and any situation where you need senior engineering expertise without a long term hire.

It’s not well suited for long term, continuous, full or close to full time roles - for that, you should hire directly, though we can still assist during your hiring search and with knowledge transfer once you’ve found the right person.

Where are you based? +

Baarsjes is based in Amsterdam, Netherlands and works with a network of partners across Europe when required.

We work primarily with European clients and operate in CET/CEST or adjacent timezones, though other timezones may be possible on a case by case basis.

Remote work is standard. On site visits may be feasible in exceptional circumstances and only by prior agreement (you will be billed for travel, accommodation etc).

How do I get started? +
Get in touch to discuss your needs. We’ll have an initial conversation to understand your situation, then propose a Discovery Week to get set up for success.
